Vehicles for public-road use must comply with both vehicle safety and environmental requirements. Besides the traditional Model Configuration License (LCM) and Environmental Configuration License (LCA), Argentine regulations provide recognition pathways for eligible foreign homologations.
The Foreign Homologation Validation Certificate (CVHE) can recognize eligible foreign whole-vehicle type approvals, including European WVTA documentation, for specified vehicle categories. This may avoid re-submitting all safety test reports with the application, although authorities can request supporting evidence.
The Foreign Environmental Homologation Validation Certificate (CVHAE), governed by Resolution 263/2026, can validate eligible foreign environmental approvals and is accepted as LCA for vehicle registration under the applicable conditions. Clear links between vehicle identification, engine configuration, software/calibration and emissions/noise approvals remain essential.
Not every category or variant qualifies. Where recognition is unavailable, conventional LCM and/or LCA procedures may remain necessary.
